The nerve that function for the salivary glands are not only the glosso-pharyngeal nerve (number IX cranial nerve), but also the facial nerve (number VII cranial nerve).
The nerve for the sensation of the pharynx (the throat behind the mouth) is the glosso-pharyngeal nerve (number IX cranial nerve). The nerve for the sensation of the larynx (the throat in the neck) is the vagus nerve (number X cranial nerve).
