The outer visual field of the right eye
Let's apply the basics to the outer visual field of the right eye. Because of the lens, the image in the outer half of the right eye (the diamond) is projected to the inner half of the right eye retina and action potentials are generated. Also, as the fibers from the inner half of the retina cross the right-left midline, the image signals reach the left cerebral cortex via the left optic tract.
Challenge Quiz
The image in the outer half of the right eye is projected to the inner outer half of the right eye retina. The fibers carrying the generated signals do do not cross the right-left midline, and the image signals reach the left right cerebral cortex.
The image in the outer half of the right eye reaches the left right cerebral cortex.
