The action of parathyroid hormone
The release of calcium from the bone (resorption) and its absorption from the small intestine transfers calcium into the blood. This will raise blood calcium concentration. The excretion of calcium by the kidney and its storage (deposition) in bone will transfer calcium out of the blood. This will decrease blood calcium concentration.
Parathyroid hormone promotes the release of calcium from bone and its absorption from the small intestine. It suppresses the storage of calcium in bone and its excretion by the kidney. The action of parathyroid hormone is to elevate blood calcium levels.
