An introduction to parathyroid hormone

Parathyroid hormone (PTH) is an endocrine hormone synthesized and released by the parathyroid gland. The parathyroid gland is a rice-shaped organ found on the thyroid gland.

The synthesis and release of PTH is stimulated by a decrease in free calcium levels in the blood.
