Both myelinated and non-myelinated fibers are supported by supporting cells.
The supporting cell of the myelinated fibers, called Schwann cells, form a structure called myelin, but the supporting cell of the non-myelinated fiers do not form myelin.
The structure of myelin is like a multi-layer of wrapping with a roll of bandage. The electric resistance is high.
