深部覚・触圧覚の伝導路では，後根から脊髄に入ると，シナプスを形成せずに，第１次感覚神経線維が後索を延髄まで上行します．この上行路を後索路とよびます．延髄で第２次感覚神経細胞体にシナプスを形成し，第２次感覚神経線維が延髄で左右の正中線を交叉します．

For deep sensation from joints and muscles and skin touch/pressure sensation, the pathway enters the spinal cord from the posterior root, does not synapse immediately afterwards, and the first sensory neuron fiber ascends the posterior column-medial lemniscus pathway of the same side of the spinal cord to the medulla oblongata, where it synapses and the second neuron cross to the other side.
