The receptors convert stimuli, such as light, into electric signals (action potentials).
For example the (retina of the) eye is a receptor. When light enters the eye, electric signals (action potentials) are generated in the nerve which originates in the eye (optic nerve).
Challenge Quiz
1.
Receptors generate electric signals (action potentials) when stimulated change activity by the electric signal (action potentials) it receives .
2.
Electric signals (action potentials) are generated when receptors effectors are stimulated.
