Consciousness and memorization are also functions of the brain
We are barely conscious of the organs other than the brain, unless an organ is overloaded or ill.
The nervous system handles the consciousness itself, thus it directly controls daily activity, sensation and thinking. Memory is also a function of the nervous system.
In a sense, the nervous system, especially the brain is 'ourself'. The other organs can be implanted, for us to continue on to be ourself. But, if (it was technically possible and) the brain was implanted, we will no longer be ourself.
