POINT!

① Winter came. Room temperature is decreased with the winter chill. Cooler decreases room temperature. These are in the same direction (red).

② Since these are in the same direction, negative feedback inhibits (blue) the cooler (function, such as by turning the power off). Because of this control, the room temperature-decreasing effect of the cooler weakens, and the decreased room temperature increases (towards that before winter).

Namely, the initial change (the decrease in room temperature) decreases (blue downward unfilled arrow disappears).

This simply says, when room temperature is decreased (with the winter chill), coolers are not used. In the present "Step-By-Step Study of Life Sciences", let's call such control redblue negative feedback.

Challenge Quiz

1.

With the winter chill, room temperature is increased decreased , and a cooler increases decreases room temperature. Since these are in the same direction opposite direction , negative feedback inhibits facilitates the cooler (function). Because of this control, the room temperature-decreasing effect of the cooler strengthens weakens , and the increased decreased room temperature decreases increases (towards that before winter). Namely, the initial change (the decrease in room temperature) increases decreases (disappears) .

2.
