POINT!

① With sweating, plasma osmolarity increases. This is in the opposite direction (blue) to the plasma osmolarity-decreasing effect of the reabsorption (through the water channels, which are increased by vasopressin, ADH).

② With sweating, (bluered) negative feedback facilitates (the synthesis, secretion, and blood concentration of) vasopressin (anti-diuretic hormone, ADH). This increases the number of water channels and the reabsorption of water. The plasma osmolarity-decreasing effect of the reabsorption increases, and the plasma osmolarity becomes adequate.

Challenge Quiz

1.

Sweating and reabsorption (through the water channels, which are increased by vasopressin, ADH) have effects in the same opposite directions on plasma osmolarity. Thus, with sweating, negative feedback facilitates inhibits (the synthesis, secretion, and blood concentration of) vasopressin (anti-diuretic hormone, ADH).
